Gratitude Riot is dedicated to creating a network of support for those in need. We believe in the power of community and collective kindness to uplift individuals struggling to make ends meet.
Gratitude Riot was founded by Brittany Cowling and Michael Welch. It is a dedicated non-profit organization that focuses on building a robust community outreach network. We seek to serve individuals and families who are facing hardship, offering assistance, compassion, and hope.
The Bay Area has the highest percentage of unsheltered homelessness in the U.S., with 73% of its homeless population lacking access to basic shelter.
According to a 2024 Hunger Report by the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, 77% of survey respondents are at risk of hunger, causing daily food insecurity.
Nearly 12% of Bay Area residents, or approximately 870,000 people, face food insecurity daily, including many families with children who must choose between paying for food, rent, or other basic needs
When parents feel supported emotionally and spiritually, they are better equipped to create a stable and loving environment for their children. A parent who feels heard, loved, and prayed for can pass that sense of security on to their kids, helping them thrive even in difficult circumstances.
By offering friendship, prayer, listening ears, and warm meals, we can help parents find hope amidst hardship—and give children the safe, nurturing environment they need to grow.
Providing warm, nutritious meals is not just about meeting physical needs—it’s an act of love that nourishes both the body and the spirit. Sharing food in a welcoming environment fosters connection and reminds families that they are cared for.
